NCHV Receives Grants from the Departments of Labor and Veterans Affairs

The National Coalition for Homeless Veterans is pleased to announce that it has been awarded technical assistance grants from both the U.S. Department of Labor and Veterans Affairs. Under these grants, NCHV will be providing a variety of services for organizations serving homeless veterans.

In addition to providing general technical support on employment-related issues and grant compliance, the Department of Labor grant will focus on Stand Downs, homeless courts and permanent supportive housing.  Conference calls and trainings will be held on these topics throughout the year.  Organizations can receive more information on the NCHV website.  Training dates will be confirmed early in 2008.

The two year grant from the Department of Veterans Affairs will focus on grant compliance and capacity building.  Organizations will be able to request onsite visits for grant and fiscal management from NCHV staff and consultants. NCHV will be producing several publications on the grant and per diem program and OMB circulars. Additional trainings are also planned with topics including how to create measurable objectives, development of permanent supportive housing, accessing mainstream programs, and the CHALENG and CoC process.

Organizations are encouraged to contact NCHV with any questions that they may have concerning providing services to homeless veterans, or visit our website.
