Employment Assistance > Employment Assistance

This section is designed to direct veterans to agencies and organizations that can help them prepare for and obtain employment, and to support the efforts of employment specialists who are working with homeless veterans and those at risk of homelessness due to health, economic or other personal issues. Studies show that gainful employment at a livable wage, with opportunities for advancement, is the foundation for maintaining economic stability and reducing the risk of becoming homeless. Market factors such as layoffs, plant closings, high local rates of unemployment, and changes in a region’s commercial base that adversely impact the availability of jobs usually affect younger, less experienced workers the most, including young veterans who are attempting to re-enter the civilian work force after their discharge from military service.
The U.S. Department of Labor-Veterans' Employment and Training Service (DOL-VETS) is a key ally in helping veterans obtain meaningful careers, maximize their employment opportunities, and protect their employment rights. The agency, in part, funds employment assistance provided by the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans (NCHV). The following links will guide you to employment resources that veterans need to find steady employment, along with other supportive services to ensure their success.
