Webinar on Serving Women Veterans and Veterans Fleeing Domestic Violence
Thursday, January 7 at 2 p.m. ET
The National Veterans Technical Assistance Center (NVTAC) hosted the webinar “Serving Women Veterans and Veterans Fleeing Domestic Violence” on Thursday, Jan. 7 at 2:00 pm EST. The Department of Labor – Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (DOL-VETS) recently succeeded in expanding the definition of homelessness as a significant barrier to employment to include veterans who are fleeing, or attempting to flee, domestic violence and other dangerous or life-threatening conditions. In this webinar we reviewed this change and used a trauma-informed care framework to discuss basic concepts to promote safety and trust. The webinar also looked at some of the risks and fears related to domestic violence and how trauma-informed care can guide practices.
The webinar featured Dr. Nancy Glowacki, Women Veteran Program Manager at DOL-VETS and Karen Guthrie, HCHV Coordinator for VA.
