Work Incentives and Employment Networks

Webinar Guest Speakers: Social Security’s Ticket to Work Program and SAMHSA’s SOAR TA Center

Homeless veterans earning a livable wage are more likely to achieve long-term housing stability. Creating this living wage often involves a combination of competitive employment and benefits payments. To effectively connect veterans to both benefits payments and competitive employment, you need to know how work incentives work and how involvement in these programs can benefit your agency and the veterans in your programs.

On Sept. 9 at 2:00 p.m. EDT the TA Center hosted the webinar “Work Incentives and Employment Networks.” Experts in this training unpacked work incentives from the Social Security Administration and discussed the benefits of becoming an Employment Network. This training built from a TA Center webinar on Aug. 5, which provided information on connecting homeless veterans to benefits payments from VA and the Social Security Administration.

Participants learned more about the Ticket to Work program and the process for becoming an Employment Network. Experts discussed how veterans with disabilities can return to work without jeopardizing their Social Security disability benefits. They also debunked common myths and provided basic information on SSA work incentive programs.
