On August 1 the VA announced upcoming awards of more than $400M in grants to help Veterans

Veterans who are homeless or at risk of homelessness will continue to get the crucial services they need thanks to more than 400m in grants awarded under the VA’s SSVF program.

On August 1 the VA announced upcoming awards of more than $400M in grants to help Veterans who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

The grants enable thousands of low-income Veterans and their eligible family members to have access to crucial homelessness services as a result of $426 million in grants to be awarded under the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ SSVF Program.

The grants will be awarded to 271 nonprofit organizations in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. A list of applicants who will be awarded grants is available at http://www.va.gov/homeless/ssvf.asp.

This funding includes $62 million in new SSVF awards that support outreach, case management and other flexible assistance to rapidly re-house Veterans who become homeless or prevent Veterans from becoming homeless.

Many thanks to NCHV Member Organizations that participated in advocacy initiatives to ensure sufficient SSVF funding was a Congressional priority. Because of your tireless advocacy, more veterans will exit homelessness.
