NCHV Releases Best Practices Publication for HVRP Grantees

Since 2003, NCHV has sought out successful, innovative Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program (HVRP) practices in providing employment services to homeless veterans. These profiles are collected in the publication “Best Practices: Profiles of Promising Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program Grantees,” which has served as a springboard for many organizations to develop, expand and improve their employment assistance programs.
This publication offers a comprehensive view of HVRP and its benefits for service providers, their partners in government and the community, and veterans in need of assistance. Many unique aspects of HVRP programs are detailed, including income-producing ventures, delivery of legal services, business skills training programs, and the role of Disabled Veteran Outreach Programs representatives (DVOPs) and Local Veterans Employment Representatives (LVERs) in successfully placing homeless veterans into gainful employment.
New profiles include recently reported results and strategies for providing employment services to homeless female veterans and formerly incarcerated veterans under the Homeless Female Veteran/Homeless Veterans with Families Program (HFV/VWF) and Incarcerated Veterans Transition Program (IVTP). "Best Practices" is organized alphabetically, with each program divided into six sections: organization background, employment and training, housing, legal services, supportive services and partnerships.
