VA’s GPD Program announces the availability of approximately $15 million in Special Needs Funding

Yesterday, VA’s Grant and Per Diem (GPD) Program announced the availability of approximately $15 million for 3 years in new Special Need grants. 

This is the highest level of funding for the program to-date, and VA has opened the process to all entities, new and existing that facilitate housing stabilization for Veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless and who are in one of the special need populations.  VA expects to award per diem for approximately 135 beds across approximately 10-15 grants with this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO)

Please note

  1. The funding award period begins October 1, 2021, and continues through September 30, 2024.  
  2. The minimum square footage for the private bedroom and private bathroom combined is 120 square feet.
  3. The bathroom must include a shower and/or tub, sink, and toilet.
  4. Neither the bedroom nor the bathroom facilities may be shared. Partial walls are not acceptable. Rooms must have a door with no through passage.
