Ex-Offender Reentry Report Released
Posted: 6/26/2009
On June 16, the U.S. Conference of Mayors released a report on prisoner reentry efforts in 79 cities. The report, based on survey results from those cities, shows that 36 percent of the cities have made changes in ordinances or policies that had previously been a barrier to reentry for ex-offenders. 58 percent of the cities changed ordinances related to housing. The report also revealed successes, challenges and goals that communities have had. Several cities also identified homelessness prevention as a key initiative in their reentry approach.
