PROGRAM ASSISTANT
NCHV is seeking a dynamic, full-time Program Assistant to support the program activities of the Technical Assistance Center and other general operations. This hard-working, energetic individual will be an active member of the NCHV team, engaging in research support and publication development. This position reports to the Director of Technical Assistance and Chief Executive Officer.
The Program Assistant will be responsible for the following essential activities:

Develop guides, reference sheets, and other practical tools informed by peer-reviewed research, evidence-based practices, and practitioner-informed lessons learned;
Provide technical and logistical support for TA Center activities including webinars, conferences and on-site consultations;
Support NCHV operations by providing excellent customer service to homeless, veterans, grantees, federal staff and other partners;
Assist the CEO with special projects that may include research, data collection, and dissemination;
Write original articles for the NCHV digital magazine;
Assist with the design, development, delivery, and evaluation of the training programs and services;
Create multi-media best practice resources that can be accessed by service providers;
Represent the organization at local homeless veteran events;
Support planning and preparation for NCHV’s Annual Conference;
Conduct administrative office tasks such as phone and email communication, and making travel arrangements for staff;
Copy-edit publications and other written materials; and
Communicate effectively with the Director of Technical Assistance and NCHV team.

Ability to take ownership of routine tasks and special projects as assigned
Ability to work on independent projects and collaborate with team members
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and employees
Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to manage time effectively
Familiarity with homeless services, veteran programs, and military service preferred
Bachelor’s degree required

Compensation and Location: This position is based in Washington, DC.  NCHV offers health and life insurance, holidays, retirement plan, and a collegial office environment. Salary range: $30,000 – $38,000, commensurate with experience.

DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE
NCHV is seeking a Development Associate. This hard-working, energetic individual will be an active member of the NCHV team, focused on strategically strengthening financial support to advance the organization and our network’s goals and objectives. This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer.
The Development Associate will be responsible for the following essential activities:

Create and implement a targeted fundraising strategy and development calendar in collaboration with CEO;
Manage, enter and audit data within the Donor Perfect database to track all donations, in-kind, and contract revenue; and keep donor email listserv up to date;
Database notes from development outreach;

Coordinate donor acknowledgment processes, including drafting letters and running thank you notes;
Conduct donor research and prospecting, major donor cultivation, donor communication (e-updates, annual appeal, donor acknowledgments, annual report, etc.), foundation outreach and engagement, web and social media content development, and fundraiser event planning;
Draft written solicitation, acknowledgment and stewardship materials for both large and small-scale outreach
Help plan and coordinate appeal campaigns;
Assist CEO and Director of TA & Training in grant and/or contract writing & reporting;

Work with communications staff and team to develop effective program messaging for external publication;
Represent the organization at fundraising and/or local homeless veteran events;
Support planning and preparation for NCHV’s Annual Conference, particularly with regard to conference sponsorships and exhibitors; and
Other administrative and fundraising duties as required.
