For the last 30 years, the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans has been the only national organization solely focused on addressing and ending veteran homelessness. In 2020, our country faced a crisis unlike any other with the COVID-19 pandemic. During this challenging time, we worked harder than ever to secure the necessary resources community-based service providers needed to ensure that they had the support they needed to help homeless veterans find a place to safely shelter-in-place.

With no other national entity advocating for the needs or interests of homeless veterans during the pandemic, we knew that we needed to quickly come up with a comprehensive plan and execute it as fast as possible. As soon as the lockdown began, our small but mighty staff initiated a multifaceted approach in our advocacy efforts. We met with key federal agencies, members from both chambers of Congress, and worked with the Administration in order to guarantee funding for homeless veterans was included in the CARES Act. In our efforts, we were able to secure $700 million to expand services for veterans who are homeless or at-risk of homelessness.

If you were not already aware, we have begun to offer new perks to membership: discounts from partners, access to our members website, technical support, online graphics and resource toolkits, and ad space in our quarterly digital newsletter The Dispatch which goes out to 20,000+ people, just to name a few. Your membership also broadens our coalition of service providers and reinforces our work to advocate and educate Congress and other key stakeholders, as well as continue to expand and improve our efforts to help organizations like yours across the country end veteran homelessness.
