DOL-VETS is offering funding for local Stand Down (SD) events. Stand Downs are events that assist homeless veterans by providing a wide variety of employment, social, and health services. Basic services such as showers, haircuts, attention to health concerns, and other collaborative services provided at Stand Down events can give participants a greater sense of self and an opportunity to improve their chances of securing employment. Stand Down grant funds must be used to enhance employment and training opportunities or to promote the self-sufficiency of homeless veterans through paid work.

Stand Down funding is a non-competitive grant awarded on a first-come, first-served basis until available annual funding is exhausted. DOL-VETS will continue to accept applications when additional funds become available. The maximum amount that can be awarded, per applicant for a geographic area, in a fiscal year (Oct. 1 – Sept. 30) is $7,000 for a one-day event and $10,000 for a multi-day event.
