The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has announced that $600 million has been made available to community agencies to assist very-low income veterans and families facing homelessness. These funds are offered through the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program, a homeless-prevention and rapid re-housing program.
In January and February, VA is sponsoring free workshops to review the grant application for community organizations interested in applying for funds under this program. The workshops will be held in Portland, San Diego, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Atlanta, Orlando, and New York City.
Applications to apply for the funds under the SSVF Program are available on the VA Web site at www.va.gov/homeless/ssvf.asp.
The first training is taking place Jan. 30, and the rest run through Feb. 13. For more information and to register for these free workshops, click here.
All questions should be submitted to the SSVF Program Office at ssvf@va.gov.
